Alpha & Omega
2-11 Players
Object
Win the most cards (younger players) or score the most points (older players).
Set-Up
Shuffle and deal six cards to all players. Keep your cards secret. Decide if the winner will be determined by the number of cards collected or points won (see scoring).
Game Play
In each round, everyone plays one card from their hand at the same time. In the first round, whatever card is closest to the beginning of the Bible takes all of the cards for that round. Cards won are set aside. In the second round, the card closest to the end of the Bible wins all the cards. Alternate the beginning and end of every round.
Scoring
For younger players, whoever has the most cards after seven rounds wins.
For older players, each round won scores a specific number of points.
Rounds 1–3 3 Pts
Round 4 – 4 Pts
Round 5 – 5 Pts
Round 6 – 7 Pts
Sets & Strings
2-6 Players
Object
Be the first player to score 50 PTS by playing sets and strings of cards. This may take multiple rounds.
Set-up
Shuffle and deal each player 7-10 cards. Place the remaining cards in a “front side up” stack in the middle
and one card “back side up” as the discard pile.
On Your Turn
Draw one card off the top of the stack or from the discard pile. If you chose a card from the discard pile, you must take all cards on top of that card. Then, play any runs or sets you may have. Finally, you must place a card from your hand on the discard pile at the end of your turn.
Finishing the Round
When one player runs out of cards (their last card is discarded), the round is over, and scores are calculated.
Scoring
7 PTS
A string of 3 consecutive books in order. Each additional book in the string is 2 pts.
5 PTS
A set of 3 books in a subject category or genre. Each additional book in the set is 1 pt.
2 PTS
A set of 5 books in OT or NT. Each additional book in the set is 1 pt.
-2 PTS
For each card you have left when the round is over.
Note: You may not add on to sets and strings. You may only play one set of books for the OT & NT.
Team Games
Games where teams play against teams. Perfect for classes and youth groups.
Super Search
Pick a random card and read the book name. The individual or team who finds the book first in their Bible and stands up wins. You can also use the author or other info on the card to prompt a search.
Acting Out
One player from a team draws a card and without speaking words tries to get their team to guess the book of the Bible.
Spelltacular
Pick a card and an individual must spell the book correctly for their team.
Blurt
Pick five cards and lay them out on the table. Read a verse from one of the books. The team then guesses which book the verse is from. If they’re correct, they keep that card. Alternate turns. The first team to 3 wins. You can also use a character from the book or a whole story for younger kids.
Doodler
Player one from team one draws a card and keeps it secret. The player then has 45 seconds to draw a picture while their team tries to figure out what book the player is drawing. No letters, numbers, or symbols found on a keyboard may be used in the drawing. If successful, the team is awarded 1pt. If unsuccessful, the other team has 10 seconds to guess and steal the point. Alternate turns until one team has 5 points.
Face Off
Two players face off against each other. The leader picks a card and announces the name of the Bible book. A point is gained for their team when the player is the first to say the next book in the Bible. The first team to 10 points is the winner.
Based on age and knowledge, you can use other scenarios for face-offs as well.
- Say an item of info on the card (author, date, etc)
- Say the name of a character in the book
- Recite a verse in the book
Guesscapades
Select one player from the team to be the guesser. Put 60 seconds on the clock. The team then picks a card and, without using any of the information on the card, gives clues to get the player to guess the book. If the book is guessed correctly, choose another card and continue until time runs out. Play three rounds. The team with the most cards wins.
Speed Racer
Shuffle all the cards and see how fast the team can put all the cards in order and complete the front infographic puzzle. The fastest time wins.
Hint: The graphic closely follows our Periodic Table of the Bible, where the Old Testament is mostly on the left side and the New Testament is on the right side.
The infographic depicted when putting together all the cards portrays the larger message of the Bible–there is one continuous story of Jesus told throughout.
